Candidate Website Issue Statements
Each candidate for President has a website that includes an issue section where the candidate outlines views on different policy issues. A number of these issues relate to child and family policy issues. The following matrix shows where candidates have specific issue statements on these child and family issues and provides links to those statements. The matrix is organized under the following categories:
- Health. These include candidate issue statements on health care generally or child health specifically.
- Early Childhood. These include candidate issue statements that cover preschool, child care, and other early childhood issues, either as separate statements or under a broader education issue statement.
- Education. These include issue statements on K-12 and higher education, after-school programs, and other supports to ensure the education of children.
- Family Economics. These include issue statements that relate to workforce supports, working families, ending poverty, or supporting the middle class.
- Marriage/Parenting. These include statements on marriage compacts, fatherhood, gay and lesbian unions and marriages, marriage counseling, and parenting education supports.
- Sanctity of Life/Choice. These include statements on abortion and stem cell research.
- Taxes and Economy. These include statements on taxes and their impacts upon families and the economy. Other. These include statements on child welfare, juvenile justice, and other issues that do not fall within the other categories but which candidates stress as affecting children (e.g. internet pornography, predatory lending).
