Children are America’s future. While parents and communities bear the
major responsibility for raising children, government has a crucial role to play – in health, education, and social development.
Child policy issues, however, can easily be overshadowed in Gubernatorial and Congressional campaigns and don’t always receive the attention they deserve. Candidates themselves may not speak out on important child policy issues, and, when they do, their statements may attract little press or attention.
The itsaboutourkids.org website is designed to raise child policy issues to the prominence they deserve. In particular, it builds upon the opportunity Iowans have to meet with Gubernatorial and U.S. Senatorial candidates and raise child policy issues.
